I just remembered something that helped Eli that probably wasn’t in your spiffy book. We also got him Cars underwear, and he LOVED his Mater underwear. So we would tell him that Mater didn’t like to get wet or get dirty, and that really helped motivate him to keep his underwear clean. Maybe that will help in tomorrow’s efforts?

Sarah – I’ve already been telling Spencer that. There is no hope.

I’m so sorry! I totally get it. I seriously could have written your same post. I hated it so much with our girl, that I really have no desire to repeat that process with our boy. He doesn’t seem to care either. I wish it was easier.

I’m so sorry, but I needed to read this and laugh. It is a terrible process, and I am putting off training Emma for that very reason!!! Good luck!!

I have been waiting and waiting for this post and was so happy when it appeared and, believe me, it did not disappoint! I laughed and laughed and laughed. (I can laugh heartily with 5 potty training experiences–6 if you count one grandchild–behind me.) This story and your feelings are so universal. It has to be done sometime. Might as well get it over with sooner than later.

And thanks for including the pathetic picture of Spencer. That photo made me laugh even more than your commentary.

My condolences. I hope you get your Christmas wish!
This last time, I realized time frames, deadlines, etc. were my enemy as they raised my hopes and expectations way too high. I had to learn to let go and believe that she would be potty trained before college.
