Picture of the Week
This picture might not actually be considered the picture of the week since we have used it as the header picture and you see it every time you come to our blog. This picture was taken looking up at the south end of Timpanogos from Provo Canyon.
And you may say, “But the picture at the top of the blog is different.” Yes, that is true. I changed the color of the sky in that picture to better match the colors of our blog. Now the mystery is solved.
Meal Time Faces
I’ve been experimenting with making my own baby food for Brooke. This is so out of my comfort zone; I am not a do-it-yourself kind of person at all. I started with a batch of sweet potatoes. I cooked them up and pureed them and they looked BEAUTIFUL. I amazed myself at my domesticity. I amazed Dallas when I told him how much we saved. I figured that I made the equivalent of 30 store bought containers of baby food, and get this, I made each one for eight cents (as opposed to buying them for 58 cents). That sold me on the idea. I continued by making applesauce, pears, and green beans.
Then I ran into a problem. Whenever I’d feed Brooke my homemade baby food, she would make strange faces and gag and basically act like I was feeding her poison. However, I’d feed her the exact same thing that we got from the store and she’d eat it just fine. I don’t get it! It frustrates me to try to feed her homemade food when she hates it, but I really want to because it saves us money. What a quandary. She’s gotten used to the sweet potatoes and will eat them pretty well, but the only way I can get her to eat anything else is if I mix it in her cereal.
Anyway, the point of this story is I fed her homemade applesauce the other day and videotaped her response. I think you’ll like this video more than she liked the applesauce. Enjoy!

Brooke Waving
A couple of weeks ago Brooke learned a new trick. She can now wave at you (when she’s in the right mood…)! Don’t believe me? Check this out.

Please ignore the bed head–she had just woken up.
Brooke’s Daddy Time
One Sunday Brooke was fussing and nothing would calm her down. Nothing, that is, until Dallas put her in this position. Then she was happy as can be!
I found these next pictures on our camera. Dallas confessed he was trying to curl her hair. It looks like a very unusual technique to yield curls…
This last picture is Dallas introducing Brooke to the fascinating world of Jell-o!
