It’s a Boy!

Just kidding.  It was too early to tell the gender.

Kidding, kidding, kidding. I’m not pregnant–though everything else in my last post was true.

I have been nauseous for days.  It’s been horrible.  I have felt like I’m on the verge of throwing up all the time.

I was up all of Tuesday night groaning in pain.  That prompted me to call the doctor.

The doctor did suspect a pregnancy (though I did not).  She sent me for blood work to check for that and for a stomach virus.

The blood work came back normal, so the doctor ordered an ultrasound to check for internal problems.  I had the ultrasound today and it came back normal.  I am an unsolved mystery.  Luckily, the nausea is subsiding and the past couple of days I’ve started to feel like a normal human being again.

Let’s hope I’m better.  I’m sick of writing blog posts about us being sick!

April Fools?

I’ve been feeling nauseous for over a week.  The past couple of days it’s been so bad that pretty much all I do is moan on the couch.  I finally went to the doctor yesterday.

After explaining my symptoms, the first thing the doctor said was, “Are you pregnant?”

I tried to explain that I was sure I wasn’t pregnant and that both times I was pregnant, I was never nauseous.

“Let’s just do a pregnancy test anyway.”

She sent me on my way to get some blood work done.

Today a nurse called from the office.  She said the blood reports came back and the doctor would like me to go in tomorrow for an ultrasound.

Should I start taking votes?  Boy or girl?

A couple of days ago, I took the girls outside to play.  Brooke had some new sidewalk chalk she wanted to try out.  She said, “Mom, I’m going to draw a sun.”

A few minutes later, she showed me this:

DO YOU SEE THAT?  It’s a sun!  My little girl actually drew something recognizable.  There’s just something so cheery about little-kid artwork.

While grocery shopping, Brooke snatched my list and started “reading” her version of the things we needed this week.  It sounded like this:

“Peanut butter, suckers, and…marshmallows!”

Now you know what Brooke’s diet would look like if she were left to her own devices.

I was noticing I haven’t posted pictures in a while.  Here are a few:

Library Tantrums

I hardly dare to say this, but I guess I will – I think everyone in our family is healthy. Of course, that is subject to change at the least provocation, so we’re taking advantage of our good health while we can.

Last night we decided to go to the library to get the girls out of the house. Anytime we take Brooke out in public, we prep her as to the behavior we expect. We must do this, because you see, Brooke is a hooligan.

As we were parking our car I said, “Brooke, when it’s time to go, what do you say?”

The correct answer to this is some version of, “Goodbye library. Goodbye books. See you another day!”

Brooke was sitting happily in her car seat when she gave us her animated answer: “MOM! LET ME GO! LET ME GO!”

When it’s time to go, that is what she usually says.  I guess I need to rephrase my question to, “Brooke, when it’s time to go, what should you say?”

Lesson learned.

P.S.  I’ll let you use your imagination as to the scene that unfolded when it really was time to go…
