Here is my brother Ben right before his last dance date. What a cute kid!
Ben got into BYU! Hooray for Ben! Just to make sure everyone knew he had been accepted, he put his acceptance letter on display in the middle of the kitchen counter. Anyone who visited the Thomas household during the last couple of weeks was blessed to behold this sight:
I’ve been experimenting with making my own baby food for Brooke. This is so out of my comfort zone; I am not a do-it-yourself kind of person at all. I started with a batch of sweet potatoes. I cooked them up and pureed them and they looked BEAUTIFUL. I amazed myself at my domesticity. I amazed Dallas when I told him how much we saved. I figured that I made the equivalent of 30 store bought containers of baby food, and get this, I made each one for eight cents (as opposed to buying them for 58 cents). That sold me on the idea. I continued by making applesauce, pears, and green beans.
Then I ran into a problem. Whenever I’d feed Brooke my homemade baby food, she would make strange faces and gag and basically act like I was feeding her poison. However, I’d feed her the exact same thing that we got from the store and she’d eat it just fine. I don’t get it! It frustrates me to try to feed her homemade food when she hates it, but I really want to because it saves us money. What a quandary. She’s gotten used to the sweet potatoes and will eat them pretty well, but the only way I can get her to eat anything else is if I mix it in her cereal.
Anyway, the point of this story is I fed her homemade applesauce the other day and videotaped her response. I think you’ll like this video more than she liked the applesauce. Enjoy!
