Caroline
Comparisons
I remember finding a picture of both Brooke and Caroline on their tummies at about 3 months of age wearing the same pink striped sleeper. I knew I wanted to photograph Madison in the same outfit and pose. Here are all three babies. Can you tell who is who?
What the heck – we’ll throw Spencer into the mix also:
That was so much fun, let’s do another one. When I was in the hospital after having Brooke, Dallas took a picture of me holding Brooke up to my chest. I loved that picture so much that I made him recreate that picture each time I had a baby. Can you identify the baby?
Caroline’s Celebration
Caroline had a birthday and is now FIVE years old. What a big girl!
Spence insisted that it was his birthday too and thought he also needed a picture by the fives:
Our fun-filled day started with presents:
Then we headed to Hill Air Force Base to see the air show:
I loved Caroline’s method for shading her eyes so she could see the jets in the sky:
We met up with my sister. She texted me on the way over asking if I had brought ear plugs for my kids. The thought had never crossed my mind. I told her no and said I didn’t think we’d need any.
Oops.
I started to get the feeling we might want ear plugs when I saw lots of people wearing them.
Then I noticed a lot of other people wearing noise-blocking headphones.
Then the fighter jets took to the skies and the kids freaked out:
Poor Madison was so scared by the sound she started shaking uncontrollably and screaming. We did our best to cover our ears every time those jets made a pass and vowed to remember our ear plugs next time.
After the air show we went to my sister’s house for pizza and cake.
Brooke’s protecting the cake and candles from Carson:
Carson was cute playing with Madison and trying to give her a paci:
If only Jeff could handle babies similarly:
Just kidding. Jeff was so good to hold Madison for a long while and she was happy and content the whole time. Then we started packing up to go and I went to get Madison and then realized I should have taken a picture of Jeff holding her so I ran off to get my camera. Apparently Madison didn’t enjoy my abandoning her, thus the only picture we have looks like one where Jeff is torturing her.
Our fun didn’t end there! Our neighborhood was hosting a huge party that evening. We were thrilled to call their party Caroline’s birthday party.
There were bounce houses:
Notice Spencer getting some air at the top of that slide:
They also had hot dogs, hamburgers, popsicles, carnival games, and a fire truck that hosed down the kids at the splash pad:
Madison slept through most of the party:
We were all completely exhausted from being in the sun all day that we came home and went right to sleep. What a fun birthday for our little Caroline!
Memory Grove Park
I sort of feel like I should retire from blogging after my last post. Every single one of my siblings commented which was unprecedented. If you know my Dad and haven’t read all the comments from my siblings for that post, you should go revisit it. Hilarious stuff.
Anyway, a couple of weeks ago the weather was so mild that we decided to take advantage and go explore Memory Grove Park. We left and realized we were driving into a rainstorm. I was a little nervous the rain would ruin our plans, but Dallas stayed the course and by the time we got to the park there were only a few rogue raindrops falling. We ended up having a great time hiking the trails.
Right off the bat Brooke caught a snake and he was our hiking companion the rest of the evening:
Madison was so bright-eyed looking around at everything and taking it all in:
Spencer was wearing his “gloves” during the hike. (They’re really socks that the kids use as gloves when they’re playing Frozen.) As we walked we frequently heard Spencer mumble, “Conceal it. Don’t feel it. Don’t let it show.”
As we were leaving a nice man said, “You guys look like you need a family picture.” How did he know? Behold, I give you only the second picture we have in existence of all six of us together:
Easter
Is it too late to do an Easter recap? I’m a little slow these days. Forgive me.
We had a neighborhood egg hunt. Here are the kids all lined up and ready to go:
We went to Oma’s house and had another egg hunt with cousins:
Spencer actually grabbed a few eggs before succumbing to the siren song of the sandbox:
After the egg hunt Carlin and Jackson led us to the park across the street for some slacklining fun:
Brooke gave it a try:
And so did Caroline:
Vander also gave it a shot:
