No Rest for the Weary
I was up all last night with He Who Refuses to Sleep. His inability or lack of desire to sleep for longer than three hours at night is killing me. That’s simply all there is to it.
I like to play a fun game while I’m up with him. I look at his sweet baby face and think that in about 15 years his upper lip and chin will start sprouting facial hair. Then I imagine him with a mustache. And a full beard. Sometimes just a goatee.
Wanna play? Go ahead. Here’s a picture so you can visualize better:
If you didn’t find that wildly entertaining, I invite you to try again at about 3:30 a.m. I’ve found the game works best at about that time.
And hey, while you’re up, want to come over and man a shift for me?

That innocent face? I don’t believe it’s capable of being such a stinker.
(I hope he starts sleeping for you soon!)

How have I never envisioned Eli with facial hair?!? Maybe because Eli has been a pretty good sleeper and I haven’t needed entertainment at 3:30 a.m. night after night? You poor thing.
I love the updated pictures! And that He Who Refuses to Sleep has joined your blog family.

Sarah,
I forgot we updated the blog pictures since our last post. I’m glad you noticed. Yeah, we figured it was about time to include Spencer and to post a picture of toddler Caroline instead of baby Caroline.

Do you ever visualize Spencer with hair on top of his head once again?

(I hope that’s Dallas’ hairy leg under Spencer’s head) 🙂

Hey Gina, cut me some slack! It’s hard to find time to shave with three kids!
Just kidding. That’s Dallas’s leg…though there have probably been days my legs haven’t looked much better. I’m just careful not to take leg pictures on those days…

I’m sorry he’s still not sleeping for you. Have you tried doing “Baby Wise” with him? I don’t follow it’s philosophies exactly, but it’s basic sleep schedule idea has worked awesome with all 3 of my kiddos.

Molly,
Yeah, I’ve read the book and Spencer has settled into a pattern of eating, being awake, and then sleeping. He does great during the day but at night he just can’t seem to get into a deep sleep for very long. I actually think that this particular night he was having tummy troubles.
