Paperwork
Brooke has been amusing us with some recent papers she’s done.
For Mother’s Day she gave me a bookmark…or a “Brookemark” as she liked to call it:
Brooke has a wart on her foot that we’ve been putting acid on every night. Brooke drew this picture to show what she imagines is happening when the medicine (the green blobs) meets her wart (the evil red blob):
This particular week Brooke got all of her spelling words right. More than her grade, I love how each “y” has a curlicue on it…just like the “y” from the My Little Pony logo of course:
When Spencer had his birthday in March, Brooke took all of his wrapped presents and stacked them up to make a fire truck shape. That gave her the idea of arrange her birthday presents in the shape of a pony. She drew me a picture of each present that she needs to get so that she will have boxes the right size that can fit together to make a pony:
Last, we have a school paper. This is an interesting story. I got a call from the secretary of the school asking me to come bring Brooke new shoes because she lost a shoe.
She lost a shoe. At school.
Wha?…Huh?…How?…I’m not understanding?…Come again?…
Luckily the secretary left a message because had I answered I’m not sure I would have been able to form a response. How exactly does one lose a shoe at school? I taught first grade for four years and have never once heard tell of such a thing.

Weeks later I’m still unsure as to how her shoe vanished into thin air during recess but that’s apparently what happened. She lost her shoe right before math and was obviously a little distracted by her unshod foot to fully focus on her paper:
I love the pony in the corner wearing the detective hat with a magnifying glass cutie mark.
Alas, the Case of the Missing Shoe is still unsolved. The numbers 90 and 30 have been cleared of all involvement. Brooke continues to be the sole person of interest in the case and investigators believe she may know more about the disappearance than she is currently revealing. The parents and teachers involved in the incident remain completely baffled.
