Picture of the Week
Rebecca was just giving me a hard time because of the fact that it’s been a while since I have posted a Picture of the Week. I just wanted to let you know that I haven’t quit Picture of the Week. I will return.
No this is not a vital post. (Rebecca is giving me a hard time about writing this.)
Perspective
We had a fun Thanksgiving. Of course, the best part was being with family. Unfortunately, we didn’t take many pictures, but we did take a few of our girls with their cousins.
In this picture, Caroline (on the right) is next to her cousin, Adeline. Adeline is about three months younger than Caroline. We put them next to each other for a size comparison. Generally, Caroline is the smallest baby around because she’s only five months old. Seeing her next to an even smaller baby completely shocked me. She looked so big and chubby! This picture doesn’t do it justice. Dallas was more on the side of Adeline, so the perspective is off.
Below are more pictures highlighting a wonky perspective. These pictures feature Brooke and Caroline with my brother’s kids. We weren’t expecting them for Thanksgiving, but my Mom found a sneaky way to get them to come at the last minute.
All weekend, we talked about getting the kids together for a cousins picture. This was the best we could do. Brooke insisted on sitting in a chair. Right in the middle of all the kids. And right in front. This makes her look like a giantess from the land of Brobdingnag.
To give you the proper perspective, Natalie (the one holding Caroline) is almost 7, Emma is almost 5, and Luke just turned 2. Brooke is 2 1/2.
My Mom and I laughed over these pictures until we were crying.
Good times.
Here’s the Story, of a Lovely Lady…
I hate getting my hair cut. I never know what to do with it or where to go to get it cut. This results in procrastinating the chore until my hair gets so long and yucky that I can’t style it, or my sister comes to town and we go together.
Well, my sister was in town but the little traitor had just gotten her hair cut. She was sporting a new do inspired by Kelly Ripa. She looked sassy and cute, as always.
A couple of nights ago I decided to buck up and I went to the salon ready for a great cut and style. I told the stylist the same thing I always say–cut it to my collarbone and add layers.
Sometimes the stylist asks questions wondering if I’d like my hair thinned out a bit or if I want it a little shorter in the front. I usually just agree with whatever she suggests.
That’s why when she asked if I wanted her to cut shorter layers in the back to add extra volume at the crown of my head, I said, “Sure! Go for it!” I seemed to remember my sister saying her stylist did that to her hair. I was on my way to looking like Kelly Ripa!
She finished with my hair and sent me on my way. I came home and went straight to the bathroom to examine my new look.
Sure enough, I had hair resembling a TV star…though not the star I was hoping for.
The added volume at my crown has given me a Mrs. Brady look.
Most definitely NOT the look I was going for.
Judge for yourself.
