I have a favorite Rebecca moment. One day, Becky and I were swinging on our swing set in Georgia. Next thing I know, Becky was holding her head, telling me to go get mom. Since she liked to play a lot of practical jokes on me, I ignored her request and slowly walked inside. A few weeks ago, I was looking through family photo albums, and stumbled across a picture of Becky with a 4 by 4 gauze patch on her forehead. I should have gotten mom after all.

    I have several “Rebecca” moments.

Would it be the countless late night hours we would talk about silly useless things but enjoy it so much.

Would it be having her tell me if I was going to make her pay or car insurance while she was at BYU then she didn’t want the car.

Would it be the talk she gave in Sacrament meeting when her intro suggested that giving a talk was less tramatic than tending the bishopric member’s kids who had asked her to speak.

Would it be that I was so glad she wrote with her right hand, the left one.

Maybe it was when Rebecca and her brother created silly seminar songs.

There are so many that they just keep coming to mind. I think one of my all time favorites was when she graduated from college and started to teach school I felt like she had accomplished a goal in her life and was now embarking on a journey to make a difference in young peoples lives.

But I think my most favorites are watching her with Brooke, knowing she is making a substantial difference in the life of my little grand daughter.

    Love you both.

Where do I even start…. My general memory of being Rebecca’s roommate, is that of us doubled over crying with laughter over some inane story or incident. Specific memories are hard to pin down, but here are a few:

    1. Rebecca would make a doubled recipe of oatmeal chocolate chip cookie dough and we would proceed to gorge ourselves on the dough. But it was health food really…. You see, the oatmeal in the cookies acts like little sponges that soak up all the cholesterol in your body.
    2. Rebecca and I were creatively asked out for a Halloween double date. She had a fish named Simon from one of her el. ed. classes that died about a day after we got the invite. What did we do to honor his life? We left the jar containing poor Simon on the boys’ doorstep with some witty reply accepting the date.
    3. Her inspirational visiting teaching reminders.
    4. Her foot that mysteriously swelled up about twice the size of her other, and resulted in her wearing a cast.
    5. Her endless history of freak-o dates. I wouldn’t believe her stories were real if I hadn’t known her at the time.
    6. Running together. HA!
    7. Tormenting students studying in the periodical section by knocking on the skylights in the plaza above.
    8. MFHD drawings and notes.
    9. Enjoying the bird bush on the ramp to Heleman Halls. Talk about a bush chock-full of singing birds!
    10. Watching her try to touch her toes!

Good grief, the memories are flowing! I’d better stop now. Thanks for the good times, ReBucked Tooth Becky!
    Love,
    Gina
